Visceral Views

I am beyond excited to finally be sharing this new body of work with you. This show has been in the works for almost a year. I am so proud of this new collection.

You all know that one of my favorite ways to spend time is by getting out into our incredible western wonderland. I find the grand vistas and natural spaces of the american west to be some of the most inspiring and healing places in the world.

It isn’t often these days that one can find themselves with enough space, mental or physical space. Our hyperconnected lives demand that we perform under shorter deadlines and with picture perfect lives in and out of work.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, I found myself living in one of the most incredibly beautiful and healing locations, the Oregon coast. My daily walks on Sunset beach got me thinking about all the people that were struggling through this new unchartered territory in tiny city apartments, under lockdown, with almost no exposure to nature. I was incredibly fortunate to be where I was when Covid struck and the world shut down.

The last decade of my life has been spent getting to know these natural spaces of the west. From our treasured national parks to lesser known natural preserves. It has transformed my life and shown me what I truly value most.

I wanted to share the experience of seeing these places for the first time. That moment when you round the bend and see the valley open up before you. The breath taking moment when you crest the peak you’ve been climbing for hours and the mountains open up to you. Experienceing the serenity and expanse of the desert in it’s colder months. The deep wisdom experienced in the forests of the giants in northern California. I could go on and on!

This collection of paintings speak to the strong emotional response our body and mind has when we encounter these incredible places for the first time, and for some of us nature lovers, every time we go back.
