Mini Summer Collection of Paintings
My new collection of oil & cold wax paintings were released today!
I am just over the moon to share these new works with you. I began working on this collection in March when we had to close the gallery due to COVID-19. You wouldn’t think that it would be a particularly inspiring time, but even though we were worried about our brand new business having to close I embraced the additional time and hit the studio.
The next few months (as the shutdown unexpectedly went on until June) were a mix of painting, weaving and struggling with uncertainty. When life is plugging along as usual, it is common to hit self-doubt road blocks as an artist. Throw in the pandemic and senseless violence against black Americans coming to a head, and it becomes incredibly hard at times to see how your creating work is important…
…but deep down I know those times are when it’s most important. On a daily basis I had this conversation with myself and then got my butt into the studio because I knew this work needed to be out in the world.
These four pieces are half of the collection I’ve been working on. The remaining pieces will be released in a few weeks. I’ll be finishing up: (2) 24” x 20”, a 24” x 30”, and a 24” x 36”.
I am also accepting commissions for custom paintings or woven wall art. You can learn more about that here.
I’d love to hear what you think of the new work, so please feel free to leave a comment below. I look forward to finishing up the remaining works and making those available to you as well.
Stay safe and healthy this summer. Cheers.
