Ali Cavanaugh.
I was introduced to the ethereal work of Ali Cavanaugh by Danielle Krysa of The Jealous Curator blog. Ali’s modern frescoes have this beautiful haunting quality that I love. I haven’t seen them in person yet, but I can only imagine the effect is much more powerful when you’re in the same room with these beauties.
“Ali carefully layers watercolor pigment on a wet kaolin clay surface using synthetic brushes. Her methods of layering translucent pigment on the white surface give the paintings a sense of being backlit.” - artist’s website
If you’re interested in learning more about Ali and her work I suggest listening to her interview with Danielle. If you’d like to view more of her gorgeous pieces be sure to visit Ali’s website. I hope Ali’s exquisite work imbues you with a sense of hope and lightness as it does me.
